Pastor granted bail over death of pregnant woman

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has granted an enquiry bail to the head pastor of the House of Prayers Ministry at Trede, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti Region, in connection with the death of a 20-year-old pregnant woman.

Pastor Percy Amoako, was arrested for allegedly giving a concoction to Akua Agyeiwaa, also known as Ebo, a hairdresser apprentice, on May, 4, 2019.

The deceased, was said to have gone to the pastor for prayers to protect her pregnancy. 

The granting of bail followed a result of a post-mortem conducted on the deceased at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), revealing that the cause of the death was natural.

Head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Godwin Ahianyo, who disclosed these to the Ghanaian Times here, said the docket to the case would be taken to the Attorney-General’s Department for advice.

Earlier, the Ghanaian Times gathered that the family of the deceased, claimed Pastor Amoako gave the deceased some concoction after she went to his church for prayers to protect her pregnancy.

The family members claimed that after taking the concoction, Agyeiwaa allegedly bled profusely when she returned home, and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

According to the family, Agyeiwaa allegedly kept on mentioning the name of Pastor Amoako on their way to the hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The family lodged a complaint at the Central Police Station, and Pastor Amoako was arrested to assist in investigation.
