Partner NDA to create sustainable jobs for youth…CEO appeals to NGOs

The Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Alhaji Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, has called on companies and NGOs to partner the authority in creating sustainable jobs for the youth and for the development of Northern sector of the country.

“Job creation and development of the Northern Zone is a very important in helping citizens escape the vicious cycles of poverty, hunger and depletion of natural resources,

Eager to find innovative means of mobilising domestic resources, the country would still require the support of development partners”, he stated.

Alhaji Sumaila said this when ActionAid Country Director organised a farewell dinner in Tamale to celebrate his achievements for the past years with the organisation globally.

Alhaji Sumaila said a renewed global partnership should be the main pillar for development to enable them to restructure their economies and take advantage of technological changes in order to accelerate development.

He commended the critical interventions of the NGO in alleviating poverty and called for a holistic framework to support the implementation of an ambitious developmental agenda, as well as follow up on any agreement reached.

The NDA CEO pledged to support any organisation who had interest in the region to realise development, peace and security, with stability being a basic condition.

Mr John Nkwa, the acting Country Director for ActionAid Ghana commended Alhaji Sumaila for his significant role in shaping the lives of the vulnerable as well as individuals who worked with him.
