John Oti Bless, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta North Constituency in the Oti Region, has decried the level of partisan and tribal discrimination in the country which is scary and poses serious threat to peace, unity and stability.
He alleged that everything in the country since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over power in 2017 had been limited to only members, supporters and sympathisers ofNPP and some ethnic groups or tribes at the expense of the citizenry.
He further alleged that never in the history of the country had tribalism and nepotism be more apparent than is being witnessed now and described the situation as sad and unfortunate that certain tribes felt superior and infallible in everything as “if the country was theirs and they have the right to do or say whatever they want about others”.
Mr Bless noted that the 1992 Constitution stated that all Ghanaians had equal rights and responsibilities and must be treated fairly and equally without discrimination adding that “today, majority of citizens have been denied equal opportunity to employment, especially recruitment into the security services, payment of contractors, scholarships among others when they all pay taxes to the government.
“The excessive partisanship and tribalism are the causes of the increasing hardships in the country and that is dangerous for our stability, national cohesion, peace, unity and the government must wake up to the reality and begin to do things right by giving equal opportunities to all Ghanaians and pay whoever has done any government project without discrimination, tribalism and partisanship to accelerate progress, growth and development,” Mr Bless bemoaned. –ghanaweb.com
