Parents and teachers have been urged to help children develop and promote their performing arts talents to ensure the socio-economic development of the country.
A Techiman-based highlife musician, Elijah Nana Konadu, known in showbiz as Bra Vim, who made the call, here, said every child was endowed with God-given talent, for their future enhancement and growth of society.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian Times on Wednesday, Nana Konadu said that parents and teachers could discover singing and dancing, drawing, poetry, playing of instrument, disc jockeying and acting among other talents in children when strictly monitored.
Bra Vim encouraged teachers to allow students to take part in extra-curriculum activities of their choice with guidance, in order to identify their individual capabilities to develop them from the basic level.
“Parents must not discourage their children who engage in the performing arts. They should commend them, show interest in their performance and massively invest in them,” Nana Konadu stated.
The musician asked educational institutions in Ghana to introduce drama, cadet, choir, music and dance, art and choreography in the extra curriculum activities.
Nana Konadu urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), religious organisations, opinion leaders, journalists and music promoters to organise talent hunt events, in order to discover more talents among the youth.
Bra Vim appealed to government to invest in the creative arts industry, for the full realisation of talents in the country.
He commended the effort of the Bono East Regional Director, Centre for National Culture (CNC), Dr Barima Asumadu-Sakyi, to revive singing and dancing in the various senior high schools.
Nana Konadu thanked the Vim Nation fans for patronising his songs from the digital platforms, including iTunes, audio mack, Apple music, Spotify and boom play, saying that others can search ‘Bra vim’ music on google.
Bra Vim implored residents of the Bono East Region to support his brand with prayers, advice and constructive criticism, adding that “I am encouraged by your likes, views, shares and comments on social media networks.”
Nana Konadu said he planned to take highlife music to the international stage for the cultural and economic gains of Ghana.
