Pacquiao takes swipe at Mayweather over leaked video

Manny Pacquiao has taken a swipe at Floyd Mayweather after a leaked video hinted that rematch negotiations had resumed.

The footage, which circulated on social media on Sunday night, showed Mayweather saying he was going to Saudi Arabia to hold talks over a second fight with Pacquiao.

It later emerged that the footage was several months old before Mayweather played down the possibility of taking on his old rival again.

But Pacquiao was not satisfied and took to Twitter to say, “Looks like Floyd Mayweather is using my name again to get himself some attention.”

Interest in a rematch has picked up after Pacquiao’s impressive win over Keith Thurman last month.

Mayweather was ringside to see the Filipino drop Thurman in the opening round before earning a points win but has since been non-committal about returning to the ring.

He last fought two years ago when he stopped UFC star Conor McGregor in the second richest fight in history.

Mayweather told : “The video that y’all been seeing is false because I’ve been and went to Saudi Arabia. I went there a long time ago.

“I talked to them about me fighting there, just different fights, but they wanted me to specifically say Manny Pacquiao.

“And actually, we didn’t just talk about boxing; we talked about different events; us bringing different events out there.

“Basically, that’s an old video. At the end of the day, there’s no talks about me and Manny Pacquiao fighting a rematch.

“Even if we did fight, all they’re going to do is have an excuse, just like the first time.

“But as far as me and Manny Pacquiao, as of right now, it will never be a rematch.”-Mirror
