Onokwa D/A school gets a three-unit classroom block

The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has provided a fully furnished 3- unit classroom block with ancillary facilities to the Onokwa D/A School as a way to promote quality education in the area.

The GH¢300,000.00 project comes with a head teacher’s office, toilet facility, computer laboratory, staff common room and assorted furniture.

In a short ceremony to commission and hand over the school to the community, Mr Yaw Owusu Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said government is determined to provide educational infrastructure in deprived communities to ensure that every school going child would have access to quality education.

He said the assembly took it upon itself to provide the community with the school facility to enable children in the community to have access to education.

Mr Owusu-Addo expressed worry at the long distances that school children from the community had to trek daily to nearby communities to have access to Junior High School (JHS) education after completing their primary education.

To improve upon the results of students who would sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the municipality, he said the assembly would be organising free extra classes for final year JHS students in over eight public schools across the district.

Mr Owusu-Addo said the assembly has made provisions for effective teaching and learning of the Information, Communication Technology (ICT) subject by extending electricity to the school.

He urged parents to take advantage of the government’s educational policies to give their wards the best of education.

Mr Owusu-Addo urged the school authorities to make good use of the facility by properly maintaining it.
