Oly, Samartex share points

A relentless Samartex 1996 FC side stretched Accra Great Olympics to a goalless draw encounter in their Matchday 21 betPawa Ghana Premier League match played at the Accra Sports Stadium, yesterday.

The away side returned to Samreboi with a point after successfully restricting their host to midfield action without much to deal with around their goal area.

Olympics was looking forward to a win to move up the table and avoid slipping into the relegation zone but Samartex thwarted all their efforts.

The first half saw Olympics with marksman Samuel Abbey Quaye and Christopher Nettey making good runs into the area of their opponents but could not find clear cut scoring opportunities.

The visitors, the ‘Timber Giants’ rather had the best chance of the half in the 37th minute when Isaac Afful’s shot missed the post by inches.

Olympics who had recorded three defeats, a win and a draw in their last five encounters came back strongly in the second half attempting to find an early goal.

Samartex forward Giyas Ibrahim who replaced Seidu Abubakar in the lineup for the encounter, was a thorn in the flesh of their host as he had few shots on target but not enough to find the back of the net

The game was concentrated in midfield especially in the dying minutes as both teams settled for a point ahead of their next games.

Samartex would return to Samreboi to prepare for a clash with Kumasi Asante Kotoko while Olympics face off with Medeama in another tight game.
