Okudzeto Ablakwa gifts midwife car for hardwork, commitment to duty

It was all tears of joy last Friday when Madam Beatrice Blessing Obidieh, the longest serving midwife at the Battor Catholic Hospital was gifted a 2015 Toyota Prius by Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region.

This act of kindness epitomises the saying that hard work, dedication and commitment in every field of endeavour pays.

Mr Ablakwa chose the World Contraception Day to show love to this illustrious woman who dedicated her life to serving Ghana and saving the lives of patients who visited the Battor Catholic Hospital.

On his Facebook page, the lawmaker wrote: “My beloved North Tongu is honoured to have hosted the Volta Regional edition of this year’s World Contraception Day in Battor earlier today.”

“I decided to surprise our longest serving midwife, Madam Beatrice Blessing Obidieh with a modest gift of a 2015 Toyota Prius fully loaded hybrid model.”

He said Auntie Beatrice as she was affectionately known had rendered inspirational service at the Battor Catholic Hospital since 2003.

Mr Ablakwa said the 53-year-old product of Atibie Midwifery Training School came highly recommended by all her colleagues, doctors and administrative staff who were unanimous during “my quiet background checks that she has been phenomenal, dedicated, selfless and a quintessential role model to the younger generation.”

While presenting the keys to Mrs Blessing, the North Tongu legislator urged other health workers to live the example of Madam Blessing.

“I hope her sterling example and our token of appreciation will motivate other health workers posted to our district from elsewhere as in the case of Auntie Beatrice to accept their postings, stay with us and not be fixated on seeking transfers to bigger cities.”

“God bless Madam Beatrice Blessing Obidieh and all outstanding health care workers.”
