Mr Divine Kwasi Kumi, staff of the Bueman Senior High School (SHS), wasat the weekend enstooled as Asafohene of Okadjakrom, in the Jasikan District of Oti Region.
The 43-year-old Cost Accounting tutor, who will go by the stool name, Nana Opoku Krampah V, succeeded Nana Opoku Otutuagyabi.
Nana Krampah swore the oath of allegiance to Osabarima Antwi Agyei V, chief of Okadjakrom, and Twafohene of Buem Traditional Area.
The Asafohene also swore oath to Nana Obitrim Aniwah, Gyasehene of Okadjakrom, Nana Agyei Quansah, Amankrado of the town, and the Chief Drummer, Brekumi Hanson, and recognized the presence of heads and members of the seven clans of the community.
Nana Krampah pledged to protect the people in time of adversity and serve them in truth and honesty.
He said “I would promote peace and unity and mobilise the citizens, particularly the youth, for the development of Okadjakrom and Buem”, and thanked the people for the confidence reposed in him and for choosing him as one of their leaders.
Osabarima Agyei swearing to Nana Krampah, pledged to support him succeed in all his endeavours, and said: “I invoke the ancestors and spirits of Okadjakrom and Buem to guide and protect you as you take up this important position as Asafohene”.
The Asafohene clad in black regalia, was taken through traditional rites, amidst cultural drumming, pouring of libation and the slaughtering of a white sheep.
The crowd cheered as Nana Krampah was introduced to the gathering, made up of elders, colleague chiefs, queen mothers, the youth and aged, at the Okadjakrom Town Square. The new Asafohene majestically waved back at the excited gathering.
The elders also installed Esther Nyampong, 27-year-old hairdresser, as Queen Mother to the Asafohene, with the stool name Nana Opukua Nyampong. She succeeded Nana Opokua Okyerewa, who passed on in 1990.
Dressed in red traditional cloth, the Asafohemaa also went through customary rites and swore the oath of allegiance to Nana Bekoe Agyeibea III, Queen Mother of Okadjakrom, and Nana Aniwabea, Gyasehemaa of the town.
Nana Nyampong promised to promote peace and cooperate with the elders and people towards progress.
Nana Agyeiba and Nana Aniwabea also swore to the new Asafohemaa, pledging their support for their new colleague and whishing her well.
