Nsumia Church of Christ Children’s Ministry leads service

The Children’s Ministry of Nsumia Church of Christ, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, yesterday held their annual programme on the theme “The role of parents towards their children.”

The annual programme provides opportunity for the children to showcase their talents and also lead the church service.

As part of the programme, the children performed Bible recitals, choreography, speed test in which the child who is able to open a particular Bible quotation first is applauded.

In addition, the children were given the opportunity to lead in the devotion, Bible reading, prayers, served as Lord’s Supper assistants, and gave announcement for the day.

After the service, the children were refreshed and encouraged to serve God with diligence and take the Bible as their guide for knowledge and wisdom.

Preaching the sermon on the theme for the programme, the Pastor of Church of Christ, Nsumia, Evangelist Edward Boakye, said children were the heritage of God.

As such, he said, parents were obligated to take care of their children and provide for all their needs, both physical and spiritual.

He said parents were providers and were expected to provide for the health, education and good shelter for their children.

Quoting from Proverbs 9.8-9, Evangelist Boakye entreated parents to teach, instruct and rebuke their children when necessary.

Parents should love their children and rejoice over their success and encourage them to aspire for greater heights,” he stressed.

Evangelist Boakye advised parents to protect their children from violence and also pay attention to the friends their children took.

The Evangelist of Church of Christ, Nsumia further encouraged the parents to expose their children to the Bible at a tender stage and attend church with them all the time.

He said it was a bad practice to attend church and leave their children at home.

Evangelist Boakye said the Children’s Day programme was instituted to provide an avenue for the children to exhibit their talent.

He said the programme, which was done, annually was also to provide the children the opportunity to lead the church and learn about the teachings and doctrines of the church.

Evangelist Boakye indicated that the future of the church depended on the children and it was important they were given opportunity to lead in the programmes of the church.

Evangelist Boakye also advised the children to take their books seriously, and avoid acts which would affect their education and ruin their future.

He also encouraged the children to obey their parents and draw closer to the Bible and God.

Evangelist Boakye commended the children for the excellent performance they put up, and encouraged them not rest on their oars, but work hard to achieve higher laurels in the church and the society.
