The premier branch of the New Patriotic Party in the United Kingdom has commemorated its 30th anniversary last Sunday in London.
The chairman of the Premier Branch, Mr Kingsley Adumattah, in an address described the NPP as a political factory “because we share the same political beliefs and ideology, one that provides freedom to development for the past 30 years.
He said the NPP UK had touched and shaped the lives of many both in the UK and in Ghana with such evidence shown in the number of men and women in government and shaping policy to impact on the lives of millions of Ghanaians.
Mr Adumattah paid homage to the many men and women who made NPP and NPP UK possible notably JH Mensah, Lawrence Ofosu Armaah, Boye Ananwomah, Kwasi Ankamah, Ampratwum Sarpong, Owusu Mensah, Thomas Broni, Mr and Mrs Ben Mensah, Kofi Akumanyi, Sam Arthur, Opoku Fofie, Amponsah Yeboah, Afum Dankwa, Matthew Kyeremeh, Mrs Comfort Arthur (Nana Sompahene), Ms Elizabeth Ohene, Mrs Briamah and Mrs Tina Akumanyi.
“Some are not with us, and I would like to wish those who are no longer with us a perfect Rest in Peace. For the many of us who have committed to the NPP ideas and principles, including members of this branch, we will continue to make it a responsibility to keep this political factory running for as far and as long as we are alive,” the NPP UK Chair said.
He said the NPP UK was grateful to the government’s Free Senior High School policy which seeks to build the needed educated workforce for the future.
“We are thankful for all the educational reforms undertaken in Ghana and we are thankful for the leadership of Ghana, where products from this political factory are at work at the highest level.
The NPP UK, he said would continue to support, defend and communicate government policy as far as it can go, “we will spread the good news and play our part in shaping the future of this great tradition”.
Mr Adumattah appealed to members of the NPP UK team to be on standby to be called upon at any time to support all efforts to break the 8.
The general secretary of the NPP, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for voting for the NPP.
He implored members to learn to forgive each other, remain united and work together to give the party a third term victory in the 2024 general elections.
