NPP man to contest Ahafo Ano North seat as independent candidate

Kwabena Osei-Bonsu, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his intention to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

He was unable to contest in the NPP parliamentary primaries despite his best efforts and thus declared his intention to go as an independent candidate.

Addressing his supporters, Mr Osei-Bonsu claimed he had contributed a lot to the growth and development of the NPP in the constituency but was denied the opportunity to pick forms to contest the primary and maintained that, “I believe the party wants to maintain the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Samed Adamu Sulemana.

“I feel I cannot fail the youth who are calling on me to contest and if I fail the youth in becoming an MP for the Ahafo Ano North constituency it will be a big blow to the youth and the constituency so I have also vowed not to back down from my independent candidature because I am confident to win the seat as an independent candidate.

“The National Executives know what is going on in the constituency and can’t call on me to step down as an independent candidate which has built my confidence and propelled me not to back down on my ambition to serve my constituents,” Mr Osei-Bonsu touted.

Nana Oti Addo, who is the Campaign Manager for Mr Osei-Bonsu, said the youth were surprised and dismayed that Mr Osei-Bonsu had been denied nomination forms hence their avowed decision to support and assist his independent candidature.

According to him, Mr Osei-Bonsu, who is called  Action Man by the youth had used his own resources to help the constituency, polling stations and it was also through him that the NPP  won in the Maabang  community, which is a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Abdul Razak, a former Nasara Coordinator, said Mr Osei-Bonsu was the one who could bring the needed growth and development to the area and he has to support and assist him to win the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. -citinewsroom.com
