‘NPP is making electoral inroads to retain power in 2024’

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is making electoral inroads to ‘break the 8’ in the 2024 elections.

In furtherance of this, the party is hoping to build on its electoral fortunes in the Volta Region to enable it retain power in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Besides, the party has mapped out several initiatives and interventions to achieve the feat to keep the party in power.

Hannah Ashade, the NPP Volta Regional Women’s Organiser, made these known when she inaugurated the Ketu South NPP Women’s Wing aimed at mobilising members to serve as agents of the party to canvass votes in the Volta Region.

The event was also used to launch a skills development programme for members of the Women’s wing to contribute to make them financially stable and self-reliant.

Ms Ashade revealed that it also formed part of the NPP’s objective to make the party attractive to people in the region who have had a healthy relationship with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Fourth Republic.

“We must be reminded of our roles in winning elections, hence we must put our shoulders to the wheel devoid of bickering, wrangling, mudsling, apathy and divisive tendencies so as to retain power in 2025,” she said.

Ms Ashade cautioned them against tendencies that would derail the fortunes of the party in the Volta region and was hopeful that “if NPP makes inroads in the region, it will boost morale of members, supporters, faithfuls, well-wishers and sympathisers of the party to retain power”.

She indicated that winning elections was about numbers, and stressed on the need for them to remind members of their roles in winning elections, hence they must not put their shoulders to the wheel.

She said the skills development programme was launched to make women financially independent and to contribute towards the spread of wealth in the NPP fraternity and to help empower women.

“Empowering women is beneficial for themselves, the party, society, country, their families, children and women’s empowerment in the industry leads to progress, economic growth and development of our motherland, and will be replicated in the other 17 constituencies across the region to train women in their spheres of endeavour,” Ms Ashade observed.

She expressed gratitude to the leadership and grassroots of the party for their support and assistance to increase the NPP’s popularity and attractiveness in the Volta region, and was hopeful it would be sustained to make it formidable.
