Northern Accra Diocese Methodist Church climaxes 5th anniversary

The Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, on Sunday held a special thanksgiving service to climax its 5th anniversary celebration in Accra.

On the theme ‘Discipleship; growing into Christian Maturity,’ the colourful ceremony brought together members from the 19 circuits in the Diocese including Bishops, Lay chairmen, and ministers of the Methodist Church.

The event saw members adorned in their beautiful anniversary cloth, amidst singing and dancing to glorify God for his love and protection over the years.

The Diocesans Bishop, Right Reverend Professor Joseph Edusa-Eyison, addressing the congregation said the anniversary was yet another milestone of the church which symbolised strength, wisdom, endurance, solid foundation, stability, durability and longevity.

He said it also symbolised the church’s commitment, to unequivocally resolve to continue to show devotion, and dedication for the purpose of their birth.

“Celebrating five years of God’s goodness and faithfulness in the journey of the church shows a strong unique anointing and determination. We are here to bring our praise and thanksgiving before His throne, with gratitude in our hearts,’’ he added.

Rt. Rev. Edusah-Eyison said the church over the five years had undertaken some developmental projects to improve the communities within which it operates in order to draw souls to Christ.

He said the Diocese had over the five years increased from 15 to 19 circuits, consisting of 161 societies in 2018 to 189 with 31,000 Christian communities.

“Our achievements reminds us of our continuous commitment to service and work in a more flexible and adaptable manner. Living a transform life for spiritual maturity and growth requires us to positively affect the communities we witness and draw them into the faith,” he said.

Rt. Rev. Edusah-Eyison expressed gratitude to all members of the Northern Accra Diocese for their dedication and service leading to the anniversary celebration, saying “our tax as a Diocese is to win more people to come to know Jesus Christ.”

In a short sermon, on behalf of the Presiding Bishop, Most. Rev. Titus Awotwe Pratt, urged each member of the church to be faithful to the calling of Christ and to ensure that they became the embodiment of the values of Christ for their benefit and to the benefit of the community and country.

He also admonished the leaders to increase their commitment and single-minded devotion to the task which God had given them to draw souls to His faith.

“We have a tasked as Christians to win souls, salvaging the lost souls and bringing them into Christ,’’ Most. Rev. Awotwe Pratt added.

As part of the anniversary, the church awarded some deserving members for their dedication and contribution towards the development of the church.
