NMC orders Net 2 TV Seat Show host to apologise …to Francis Boateng, Okyere-Adjekumon

The National Media Commission (NMC) has directed NET 2 TV and the Host of the Seat Show, Kweku Annan to retract and apologise to Messers Francis AkuamoahBoateng and Bright Okyere- Adjekumon.

According to the Commission, this follows a publications made on nine episodes of the programme from April 13, 2022 to May 16, 2022 which the NMC found to be unprofessional.

A press statement signed and released on Monday by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr Alexander Bannerman, said the broadcast was termed “Expose on the Estate of the late John Prempeh, a former Controller and Accountant –General”

It has, therefore, directed the Host and TV station to apologise, retract and treat the apology with the same prominence as the offending material.

The statement said, at the Complaints Settlement Committee,Kweku Annan, could not substantiate the allegations, and thus concluded that they had no case.

“The Commission explained that assuming that the complainants were guilty merely because of not responding did not mean they were guilty of the allegations. Therefore, the station did not follow basic ethical journalistic rules by airing a one sided story on the estate of the late John Prempeh.

The Commission found the behavior of NET 2 TV and the host as unprofessional and therefore directed the station to apologise, retract and treat the apology with the same prominence as the offending material”, the statement said.

It added that, the television station had been directed to remove the alleged offending materials from all their social media platforms.
