New Tulaku clash: Police nabs 29 suspects after bloody clash, six sustain injuries

A least 29 suspects have been arrested following bloodily clashes between two rival groups at New Tulaku (kraal), near the Ashaiman Timber Market, in the Kpone Katamanso  District of the Greater Accra Region.

At least six persons also sustained injuries, a police source told the Ghanaian Times.

It said the confrontation occurred on Thursday evening and was believed to have been triggered by a misunderstanding over an issue on social media.

According to the source, the fight, which initially began between two young men belonging to the rival, soon turned into a free-for-all, amidst sporadic shooting which resulted in the injury to the six people, including pass-byers.

The police source said the injured were rushed to the hospital where they were responding to treatment.

The Ghanaian Times has gathered that the Ashaiman District Police Command had commence investigations and the situation at the kraal was now calm.

When this paper visited the kraal was increased police visibility.

New Tulaku, located on the Akosombo road, near the Ashaiman roundabout, is the largest animal market that serve the Greater Accra region and beyond and creates employment for hundreds of youth, some of whom are noted for their notoriety.

The area had witnessed numerous police raids in recent times to flush out criminal gangs, drug peddlers, petty thieves and fraudsters, who sometimes dubbed innocent
