New Juaben South Assembly to introduce Best Teacher Awards

The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region is set to introduce the municipal edition of Best Teacher Awards, to honour hardworking teachers in the area.

The purpose for the Best Teacher Award scheme is geared towards motivating all teachers to work harder, enhance the teacher–student relationship and improve the quality of education in the municipality.  

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Isaac Apaw Gyasi, who disclosed these at a Meet the Press encounter with journalists in the Eastern Region, said government remained committed to improving education.

He also said government was taking steps to ensure efficient and effective governance, which were evident by a number of policies and programmess being rolled out.

Mr Apaw Gyasi indicated that in pursuant with the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda, the assembly has committed a lot of resources to improve education in the municipality.

He said 50 students in the municipality have been awarded scholarships ranging between GH¢1500 and GH¢6,000, through the decentralised government scholarship scheme, adding that they were currently pursuing tertiary education.

Mr Apau Gyasi revealed that additionally, the assembly supported 30 students to pursue further studies, while 40 other students have benefited from the Persons With Disability (PWD’s) disbursement.

“I can say my office has provided a lot of logistics, and financial support to the educational sector in this municipality. We have distributed about one thousand furniture to some schools in the municipality”, he said.

 Touching on the Nation’s Builders Corp (NABCO), the MCE said 626 out of 1860 trainee personnel have exited the various modules.

He said they gained permanent jobs with the public sector institutions like the Ministry of Local Government and Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture while others have started their own businesses.
