‘New breed of CPP leadership needed to turn around electoral fortunes’

“The Convention People’s Party (CPP) needs a complete overhaul from the ward through the constituency, regional and the national executive level for greater impact in Election 2020 and future elections,” Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong-Kumankumah, the CPP Election 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate, has stated.
“We need a new breed of leadership to vigilantly diagnose our electoral haemorrhage and take bold decisions to revamp it to transform our electoral fortunes in Election 2020 and beyond because under the current political dispensation the CPP has seen its fortunes dwindling.
“Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s political party is struggling even to be recognised as third force under Fourth Republic, it is an error, which must be corrected, I am stepping out to contest National Chairmanship slot of the party and provide unifying platform for CPP members to come home and help rebuild structures of Osagyefo’s party.“Collectively, all CPP members need to join forces for re-examination, dismantle and make extensive renovations in order to repair party structures from ward through constituency, regional, national levels and we need all members now than ever.”“As an accomplished entrepreneur, politically astute personality, active gender advocate, traditionally endowed, I’m ready to combine all to develop strategic master plan to rebuild the party which is still formidable party but confronted with deep seated internal mistrust,” Nana Sarpong-Kumankumah touted. She lamented that the CPP could not move forward with internal wrangling, needed all hands on deck to utilise knowledge, resources and manpower of members and indicated that “if elected into office I will set-up special CPP Intra-Party Dialogue Platform to reduce any animosity among members, we must find level ground to settle our differences as comrades.“CPP stands at crossroads to move backward into political disintegration or set a democratic standard of moving forward in accordance to its slogan ‘Forward Ever, Backwards Never’, ” Nana Sarpong-Kumankumah stressed and urged delegates to critically examine campaign messages and other wooing antics of all leadership aspirants including flag bearer slot and decide whom to entrust fortunes of party.“We need to build the party and democratic system of administration under which all members will be able to contribute to the welfare, peace, stability, unity and prosperity of our party and keep it from dictatorship and oppression,” she added. -GNA
