Negative census data can affect allocation of resources for devt – Ernest Quist

Ernest Theophilus Quist, Municipal Chief Executive for Kpando, has cautioned that bad or negative census data could affect the allocation of resources for development.

He has implored residents of Kpando to treat the upcoming census exercise as a platform to help distribute resources fairly in the various communities.

In a speech read on his behalf at the inauguration of an eight-member committee of the Municipal Census Implementation Committee for the 2020 Population and Housing Census (PHC) in Kpando, Mr Quist reminded the committee members of the need to attach seriousness to the exercise as the success of the programme in the municipality largely depended on how diligently they executed their work.

He also called for collaboration from the assembly, chiefs and other stakeholders for a successful exercise.

Henry Loglo, Oti Region Statistician, said the exercise would help identify the disadvantaged population in society for needed assistance to be given and noted that this year’s exercise was different from previous ones because of technological advancement saying “the digitising mapping approach being adopted will help avoid enumerators “veering” into each other’s territory.”

Naba Akolbila Robert Agetwin, Municipal Coordinating Director, Kpando, called for commitment, dedication, determination and respect on the part of members of the committee and the residents of the municipality during the exercise.

The Committee Members are Naba Agetwin as Chairman, Madam Emmanuella Abena Benning, District Census Officer as Secretary, Richard Asilevi, District Director, National Commission for Civic Education, Alexander Affrim, Municipal Programme Officer, Madam Gloria Osei, Information Service Department, Samuel Vemesah, Ghana Education Service, Dr Samuel Abudey, District Director, Ghana Health Service and Togbe Agorbortu, Kpando Traditional Council. -GNA
