NDC’s Felix Odartey Lamptey Calls for Infrastructure Change Amid Tetegu Security Concerns

The NDC parliamentary candidate for the Weija Gbawe Constituency, Felix Odartey Lamptey has raised concerns regarding the security situation in Tetegu, a rapidly growing community within the constituency.

He emphasised the need for proactive measures to address potential security threats, particularly focusing on the community’s infrastructure vulnerabilities.

Highlighting the critical role of bridges in connecting communities and facilitating the movement of goods and services, Mr Lamptey expressed alarm over Tetegu’s reliance on a single small steel bridge as its only entry route.

He stressed on the importance of treating this infrastructure bottleneck as a significant security concern requiring urgent attention.

Mr Lamptey also emphasised the importance of creating additional connecting bridges to Aplaku and Dansoman to improve accessibility and foster economic development.

He identified several factors contributing to Tetegu’s vulnerability, including the risk of structural damage from natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Additionally, he pointed out the threat posed by overweight and oversized vehicles, which could exceed the bridge’s capacity and compromise its integrity.

Also, the politician expressed worry about incidences of robbery and sabotage, adding that there was the need for comprehensive security measures to safeguard public safety and protect the community from potential harm.

Proposing a proactive action plan, Mr Lamptey advocated for the replacement of the existing steel bridge with a two-lane carriageway concrete bridge, designed to accommodate the growing traffic volume and ensure the safety of residents.

He also emphasised the importance of creating additional connecting bridges to improve accessibility and foster economic development.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Mr Lamptey called for the establishment of a larger and permanent police station in Tetegu, equipped to handle the community’s security needs effectively.

He also proposed the implementation of fire-fighting facilities to enhance emergency response capabilities.

Recognizing the importance of collaborative efforts, he urged residents to unite behind a shared vision for Tetegu’s security and development.

The politician mentioned the enduring significance of community engagement beyond political cycles, and pledged his commitment to working alongside stakeholders to effect positive change in Tetegu.
