NDC urged to develop robust governance framework

Dr Senanu Agumenu, a former Special Assistant to the late former President, Jerry Rawlings, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect leaders that will develop a robust governance framework for national development.

He explained that the party was on a complex path that needed bold and robust decision to distinguish its brand during challenging moments to redefine its future to chart a governance towards accelerated progress, growth and development.

“We are on a complex path that needs a bold decision to distinguish the brand we need at this challenging moment to redefine the future we believe in as a party and chart a robust governance framework for national cohesion and development,” Dr Agumenu stressed.

In a news brief ahead of the contest between Asiedu Nketia and Ofosu Ampofo for the National Chairman position of the NDC, he indicated that when products were good for a competitive market, the dynamics of market forces would either reposition one of them or necessitate a person to re-examine some exceptional qualities of the two products.

Mr Nketia, who has been the General Secretary of the NDC for 17 years, is seeking to unseat the incumbent National Chairman, Mr Ampofo, the current National Chairman of the NDC, who is seeking re-election.

The NDC as part of its preparations ahead of the 2024 general election will be electing its national executives on December 17, 2022.

In such events, Dr Agumenu indicated that, people would appreciate the unique selling proposition of each and decide on which one could be the star brand with competitive edge to lead the market and appealed to the delegates to think about the future of the NDC in making a decision.

“When two products are good for a competitive market, the dynamics of the market forces will either reposition one or necessitate a person to re-examine some exceptional qualities of the two,” he observed.

Mr Nketia said he had the strength to withstand the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and experience he had gained as longest serving general secretary of any political party in the country made him the best person to occupy the position.

Mr Ampofo also said he presented the best qualities to be retained as the National Chairman to unseat the NPP in 2024 since the party had become more attractive under his leadership.
