NDC suspends Allotey Jacobs over ‘persistent anti-party conduct’…He responds to suspension

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its former Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, over what it calls “persistent anti-party conduct”.

The party made this known in a letter signed and issued by Ofosu Ampofo, the National Chairman of the NDC, addressed to him and sighted on May 6, 2020, it said its Functional Executive Committee took the decision on behalf of its National Executive Committee after a meeting on Wednesday.

“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, at a meeting held on Wednesday the 6th day of May 2020 has suspended you forthwith as a member of the party pursuant to Articles 46(1), 46(6) and 46(8)(b) of the party’s constitution for your persistent anti-party conduct,” the letter said.

“The matter has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the party for further action,” the letter said.

Responding to the suspension, Mr Jacobs said his suspension from the party would not stop him from telling the truth and claimed it had yet to be officially communicated to him at the time on Wednesday, and insisted he is not moved.

“I have my own independent mind and I will always stand for the truth, and if the party dislikes it and for that reason they are suspending me, that’s beautiful, I have received the decision wholeheartedly, and have no intention of challenging the party’s decision, however, I will continue to offer honest opinions on various radio and TV stations provided I’m given platform to comment on issues,” he indicated.

However, Mr Jacobs denied claims that he is in bed with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying, “Facts are facts, when something is good about NPP, I will say it, likewise when it is wrong, there is need for us to change the kind of narrative or political discourse, we need to help grow our politics in our country.

“I believe the decision is in best interest of the party, my suspension will not be reason for me to cut ties with it, when the party takes certain position, I believe is good and well in interest of the party, why wouldn’t I defend our party, support and assist the kind of policy? ” he intimated. -citinewsroom.com/myjoyonline.com
