The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched its ‘Election 2020 Victory door-to-door Campaign’ in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region with an admonition of party executives to work hard to wrest power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The campaign forms part of party’s implementation of the Professor Kwesi Botchwey Committee’s report, and also ensure unity and cohesion at grassroots level as recommended ahead of 2020 general election.

The campaign, dubbed: ‘Election 2020 door-to-door campaign for John Dramani Mahama’, is to ensure every electorate becomes aware of and fully understands policies and programmes of  NDC, ahead of 2020 general election.

The event, brought together polling station and constituency executives, the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Mrs Elikplim Akuru, and some party gurus to strategise towards general election in 2020.

Speaking at the launch, Joshua Akamba, the National Organiser of the NDC, advised party leaders to pay particular attention to members at the grassroots in order to attract more supporters to the party.

“The new strategy will help the party to strengthen its effort towards winning more parliamentary seats, garnering more votes for presidential candidate of the party, party supporters and sympathisers to unite and wrest power from NPP will not be easy.

“I call on the old executives who lost their positions to join hands with us to present a united front in capturing power from NPP,” Mr Akamba stressed.

Kofi Adams, the former National Organiser of NDC, posited  “let us work hard to register all constituencies in the country in red, black, green and white colour of the NDC as we cultivate character of our founder and leader, former President Jerry Rawlings, to propagate the news about the party.

Mrs Elikplim Akuru, expressed her readiness to win the seat ahead of the party’s internal parliamentary primary and called on the party members to rally behind her, saying “the time has come, not only to stop the NPP but also to stop the self-inflicted defeat of the NDC in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency.

“My aspiration which has been tied to aspiration of our grassroots and entire Dome-Kwabenya constituents is to champion the end of imposition of NPP on good people of Dome-Kwabenya constituency.

“I stand to assure you the Dome-Kwabenya constituency is ready for long-awaited change, since we cannot bear any longer promises and woeful failures of NPP for three years.
