Nana Agradaa slapped with fresh charges, remanded

Founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, at Weija, Patricia Oduro, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, was yesterday remanded by the Accra Circuit Court after fresh charges were preferred against her by the police.

It brought to two the number of circuit courts trying Nana Agradaa over a money doubling scheme she is alleged to have perpetrated against her church members and members of the public she invited to an all night service, on October 7, at her church.

She was charged with charlatanic advertisement and five counts of defrauding by false pretence but she pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Her lawyers were not in court.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvester Asare told the court that five complainants were involved in the matter.

He added that the police currently had 30 complaints and were still taking statements and expressed fear that if Nana Agradaa was granted bail, she may interfere with investigation and evidence collection by paying off her victims who he said appeared vulnerable.

Presiding judge, Evelyn Asamoah remanded Nana Agradaato appear on October 24.

DSP Asare told the court that on October 10, this year, complainants reported to the police that accused demanded and received huge sums of money from them under the pretext of doubling same for them.

According to DSP Asare, investigations established that on October 5, this year, accused advertised on Today’s Tv and other social media platforms that she was capable of doubling money.

He added that upon the request of accused at the all night service, she received various sums of money from complainants to double but she failed to do so allegedly.

DSP Asare said during interrogations accused admitted complainants assertions were correct.

Nana Agradaa was on Thursday remanded for the second time by a separate circuit court hearing the matter, where she is involved in similar offences to appear on Monday.
