‘My nomination is opportunity for women to be part of decision-making’

Losina Barikisu, the District Chief Executive nominee for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, has stated that her nomination is an opportunity for women to be part of the decision-making processes.

She called for peace, unity and support for her administration to meet the admiration, hopes and aspirations of the residents through accelerated growth and development.

Madam Barikisu urged women not to shy away from political appointments to enable them to contribute meaningfully to nation building.

She made the call following protest by some youth of the party against her nomination ahead of an election for her approval or otherwise but following a press conference by some NPP youth in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency against her prior to being nominated by the president, Madam Barikisu was welcomed to begin the journey to her confirmation as District Chief Executive.

Madam Barikisu was one of the 38 women nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to be confirmed as chief executives for various assemblies in the country and she is the first woman to be nominated as District Chief Executive for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba since its creation in 2004.

Her nomination was met with joy when she visited Sawla to pay courtesy call on traditional authorities and elders of the district to seek their support and assistance and also interacted with members and supporters of the party at the constituency party office, where she called for peace, unity, assistance and support of all.

Madam Barikisu expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for nominating her saying “I, first, want to thank Allah for his grace and blessings, and I thank President Akufo-Addo for appointing me to serve in his government, I know he saw capabilities in me, and also he is committed, dedicated and determined to giving women opportunity to serve hence my appointment”.

She appealed for support and assistance from her colleagues who contested with her since she could not grow and develop the district without them, other residents and assembly members and stressed on the need to come together towards the progress, growth and development of communities.  –citinewsroom.com
