MTN Foundation supports babies born on Christmas Day

The MTN Foundation has so far distributed 1,500 hampers estimated at GHC406.000 to mothers who give birth on Christmas Day.

The donation is under the ‘MTN Boxing Day Hamper Distribution’ programme which started in 2009 to put smiles in the face of mothers and their babies.

The hampers contain blankets, diapers, wipes, towels, shawls, bibs, toiletries, clothes among other baby essentials are presented as surprise packages to the mothers who receive them with joy and excitement.

MTN Ghana Foundation disclosed this when it presented hampers to mothers at the Maternity Block of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The maternity block was finance by the MTN Ghana Foundation in the year 2009.

The MTN Foundation said the ‘MTN Boxing Day Hamper Distribution’ had been extended to   hospitals and polyclinics in other regions over the years.

“By year 2020, MTN had covered all 16 regions of Ghana with a total of 120 Regional Hospitals and Polyclinics across the country as beneficiaries,” the Foundation, said.

It said the programme had been driven through its Employee Volunteers who commit their Boxing Day celebration to put smiles on the faces of mothers and their babies.

The hampers for babies born on Christmas day has received commendation from the recipients as well as many Ghanaians.

“It t is one of the many ways MTN Ghana Foundation has catered for the health needs of several individuals and medical institutions across Ghana,” the Foundation, said.

It added “With 2021 being MTN’s 25th anniversary, the company distributed 500 hampers in all the 16 regions in selected hospitals across the country.” 

MTN committed to welcoming babies born on Christmas day each year with hampers made up of assorted items.
