The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North in the Ahafo Region, Dr Freda Prempeh, is putting up a 120-bed capacity hostel for the Duayaw-Nkwanta Boakye-Tromo Senior High/Technical School (BOSTECH) in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
The MP had already inaugurated dining hall and kitchen facilities for the school, and promised to provide standard beds to stock the hostel, which include Housemaster’s bungalow and washrooms.
Dr Prempeh, also a Minister of State in charge of Works and Housing, told GNA during an inspection visit to the constituency she was committed to ensuring immediate development needs of the constituents were addressed by the close of the year.
She inspected the progress of work on the construction of many Community based Health Planning Services (CHPS) Compounds, classroom blocks, 10 boreholes, and 10 durbar grounds as well as Astro-turf pitches, spread across deprived communities in the constituency.
Dr Prempeh explained she had already constructed about 100 boreholes to make potable drinking water accessible to the people, and was also constructing a modern ward at the Bomaa Government Hospital.
She added the installation of solar lamps in many communities had enhanced lighting systems and improved the security situation in the constituency.
Dr Prempeh said the government had not neglected the Tano North constituency in the sharing of the national cake, saying, very soon equipment would be installed for the Tanoso Brick and Tile factory under the One-District-One Factory programme to commence operation in the area.
The government is also putting up 20 houses at Buokukuruwa, near Duayaw-Nkwanta under the national affordable housing scheme to provide affordable housing to public and civil servants in the area, she said, adding, they would be completed by the close of the year.
Dr Prempeh who visited the project site along the Duayaw-Nkwanta-Kumasi highway said she was satisfied by the progress of work done, and asked the contractors to speed up and complete the houses as scheduled.
Though the contractors were not sighted on site, work on the construction of the Techire-Adrobaa-Subriso road had progressed to the level of laying asphalt, and Dr Prempeh appealed to Alexiboam Construction Limited working on the project to speed up.
She also told the contractor (Alexiboam), awarded to work on the Duayaw-Nkwanta-Bomaa stretch to expedite action to commence the project, saying, that particular road was very dear to the people.
Dr Prempeh promised the extension of electricity and necessary development projects to deprived communities to better the lives of the people.
At Tanokrom and Adongo communities, the MP assured the people she would furnish their newly-constructed CHPS compounds with the required medical devices and equipment for the provision of efficient health care services.
The MP observed the Koforidua Astro-turf pitch and the Techire durbar grounds were nearing completion and pledged to inaugurate them by the close of the year.
