MP fulfils campaign promise to constituents

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has fulfilled his 2020 electoral campaign promise to his constituents.
He promised his constituents part of his salary as interest-free loans if he wins the Akyem Oda parliamentary seat in the 2020 elections to improve livelihoods.
Mr Acquah fulfilled the promise when he disbursed more than GH¢140,000 accrued from his salary since becoming MP as soft loans to more than 200 traders in the constituency.
At a meeting with the beneficiaries of the first phase of the loan facility, he was hopeful more people would benefit in the next phases to help boost local business in the constituency and attract investment.
“This is in fulfilment of a campaign promise in 2020 that I will devote half of my salary every month to be disbursed as interest-free loans to the traders if they vote for me as their MP which they did because of the confidence reposed in me.
“My constituents have shown that they trust I can meet their interest, hope and aspiration to improve their livelihoods during my interactions with them and I assured them of not promising in vain but will fulfill them if I am voted as MP,” Mr Acquah stated.
However, he advised the beneficiaries to obey the modalities of repayment of the loan to enable many others have access since it was interest-free and the disbursement would be done in phases until all constituents benefited, and assured that it would not be discriminatory.
Mr Acquah educated and sensitised the traders on the reasons why the government intended to introduce the Electronic Transaction Levy (e-levy) and the benefits it would accrue to the citizenry when implemented.
He appealed to them to make informed decisions on the levy and not just rubbish it when those against it approached them and reminded them people were entitled to their opinions. –
