Motorcycle rider gets 18 months for stealing mobile phones

      An 18-year-old motorcycle rider, who stole three mobile phones valued at GH¢1,000.00 at Subriso, near Tepa in the Ahafo Ano-North municipality, has been sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment by the Nkawie Circuit Court.

Kofi Appiah pleaded guilty and was sentenced on his own plea.
   

 Police Inspector Jonas Newlove Agyei told the court presided by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that, both the complainant and the convict were residents of Subriso.


The court heard that on September 6, this year, at about 10pm, the complainant realised that his phones and his money had been stolen from his room.
   

Inspector Agyei said on September 8 this year, the complainant saw the convict selling a mobile phone at a drinking spot in the community and when he confronted him, he admitted to stealing his mobile phone.

Prosecution said convict was arrested and taken to the Manfo police station. – GNA
