More Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCE) nominees have been confirmed across the country by members of their respective assemblies to begin their work.
From Dzolo-Kpuita, ALBERTO MARIO NORETTI, reportsthat incumbent Ho West DCE, Mr Ernest Victor Apau, sailed smoothly into a second term of office on Friday with all the 37 assembly members voting in his favour.
Prior to the 100 percent endorsement, most of the assembly members turned up the assembly hall in white apparels, predicting victory for Mr Apau beforehand.
When the result was announced, the assembly burst into a state of ecstasy.
Mr Apau who was subsequently sworn into office by the District Magistrate Court Judge, Madam Comfort Adimazoya, expressed gratitude to the assembly for renewing his mandate and pledged to continue to operate an open-door policy to advance the development agenda of the district.
He gave the assurance that greater zeal and resources would be committed to the area of agriculture to consolidate and increase the economic fortunes of the district.
Meanwhile, Mr Apau promised huge investments into tourism, health and education sectors , as part of plans to transform Ho West and improve the welfare of the people tremendously.
He warned that there would be no room whatsoever for corruption in the assembly.
“My duty is to protect the resources of the Ho West District and I will do that in the spirit of transparency and integrity while working with all the assembly members, stakeholders and the traditional authorities to lift the flag of the district to astonishing heights,” Mr Apau added.
The DCE also affirmed that he would work to maintain a high state security in the district to protect life and property at all times.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa who was present, said that the voting pattern by the assembly members readily demonstrated the strong bond of prevailing unity among them.
He said that Mr Apau’s endorsement was a clear overture of rapid development progress in Ho West.
Mr Apau becomes the sixth DCE-nominee to be endorsed.
The nominees for North Dayi, South Dayi, Afadzato South districts have received the nod, likewise the nominees for Hohoe and Kpando municipalities.
“So far, no nominee has been rejected in the Volta Region and this hold great promise of rapid development for the region,” Dr Letsa said.
Also an evangelist and former footballer, Mr Divine Richard Komla Bosson, yesterday assumed duty as the Ho Municipal Chief Executive.
Thirty-six out of the 42 assembly members voted in favour of his nomination, while a paltry six voted against him.
By the voting pattern, Mr Bosson has won 85.7 percent of the ballots from the assembly members.
Until his endorsement, Mr Bosson was the Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
In his maiden speech as MCE, Mr Bosson pledged to operate an open-door policy and also involve all stakeholders, assembly members, traditional authorities and individuals to promote the good cause of the Ho municipality.
“I will walk the path of righteousness as I pursue the total growth and development the Ho municipality,” he further promised.
Mr Bosson noted that the municipality was endowed with rich human and natural resources which required the collective effort of the populace to harness effectively.
The married father of three becomes the seventh MDCE nominee to be endorsed overwhelmingly by their respective assemblies in the Volta Region.
He thanked the assembly members for reposing the confidence in him to serve as MCE and gave the assurance that he would never betray the assembly in any manner as his he would always work with the assembly members in the spirit of transparency and accountability.
Mr Bosson mentioned water and sanitation, and discipline among the youth as areas which would be tackled with great zeal as a priority.
DANIEL AMOO, reports from Galilea that the President’s nominee for the Ga South Municipal Assembly, Mr Joseph Stephen Nyarni was unanimously endorsed by all the 28 Assembly Members as the Municipal Chief Executive for the Assembly last Friday.
The 28 Assembly members cast their votes peacefully to confirm his second term of office in the voting process presided over by the Ga South Electoral Commission.
The Assembly Members, who were clad in white, jubilated amidst singing and lifted Mr Joseph Stephen Nyarni shoulder high, after giving him a hundred percent vote count.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Nyarni thanked the assembly members for the confidence repose in him to continue serving the good people of the Ga South Municipality.
He also expressed his appreciation to the party leadership, chiefs and various committees that worked on the appointment process for the opportunity given to him.
Mr Nyarni said he would together with assembly members, management, staff and all stakeholders work together to bring development to the doorsteps of the citizenry, hence the need to generate more revenue to meet the needs of the people.
The MCE said he remained committed to the vision of the Regional Minister to ensure that the communities became a better place for all.
According to him, the task ahead of them is huge one and would therefore require the support and cooperation of all stakeholders such as the chiefs and elders of the land, members of parliament, staff and the citizenry, so that together they could achieve their goals.
On his part, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, who was represented by the New Party Party Chairman Mr Divine Out Aghohorm, expressed gratitude to the assembly members, chiefs and the party leaders and urged all to come together respective of political affiliation, and help bring development come to the Greater Accra Region.
From Prang, EMMANUEL ADU GYAMFI reports thatAssembly Members in the Pru West District in the Bono East Region on Friday confirmed the President nominee, Mr David Manu, an Accountant, as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
Out of the 18 members who voted, 17 voted ‘Yes’ making 94.4 per cent, while one voted ‘No’ representing 5.6 per cent.
Mr Manu, in his acceptance response promised to work with peace, unity, love and hard work to promote infrastructural development of the area.
The DCE who is also the former Presiding Member (PM) of the district, further promised to used town hall meetings and radio programming, among others, to engage residents in his tenure.
On the other hand, the General Assembly also elected Mr Iddrisu Halid as the PM of the Pru West District.
Mr Iddrisu swore the oaths of allegiance, office and secrecy to assume his new position in the local government system.
At North Dayi and Kpando Assemblies, all the two nominees had an overwhelming endorsement.
Mr Edmond Kudjo Attah of North Dayi Assembly secured 32 out of 34 votes with 2 rejected votes representing 94.1 per cent.
Mr Geoffery Badasu of Kpando Municipality also polled 28 out of 28 votes to secure 100 per cent.
Present at the function were the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, MP for Kpando Dela Sowah, Volta Regional NPP chairman Makafui Woanyah and party faithful.
