Modern circuit court inaugurated in Nalerigu

A modern circuit court was inaugurated in Nalerigu, the regional capital of the North East Region, on Monday.

It has courtroom, judge’s chamber and offices for the recorder, cashier, registrar, bailiff, and washrooms for staff and court users. It also has a cell for the court and an Information, Commuication and Technology laboratory.

The facility was funded by the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) at the cost of GH ¢ 764,500 and would serve Nalerigu and its surrounding communities.

The Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, who inaugurated it, said the building would serve as a positive step towards delivering justice to their doorstep.

He urged them to patronise the court in order to solve menial problems.

He, therefore, called on the public to report any staff of the service trying to make any unlawful demand of money in the discharge of their duties to the complainant unit of the service.

The Chief Justice also commended the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders for committing more resources into the completion of the facility.

The East Mamprusi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hajia Rashida Mahama Poanaa, said the construction of the court would bring justice delivery to the doorstep of the people.

She said cases that had been trying in Tamale or Bolgatanga would now be tried in Nalerigu.

This, she said, would also cut down transportation cost on security agencies of transporting suspects to Tamale and Bolgatanga.

The MCE added that justice and security were essential for the development of every society, hence the construction of the court.

She, however, appealed to the Chief Justice to post judiciary service staff to the facility for commencement of work.

The Paramount Chief of Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Abdula Mahami Sheriga, commended the Assembly for liaising effectively to put up the facility.
