Ministry approves financial clearance for recruitment of environmental health officers

The Ministry of Finance has approved financial clearance for the recruitment of 1,174 environmental health officers for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.

A statement signed by James Oppong-Mensah, Acting Chief Director of the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) said, the OHLGS has commenced recruitment processes for the officers.

Beneficiaries, according to the statement, include officers who completed their course of study at the Schools of Hygiene in Accra, Tamale and Ho from 2010 to 2019.

It noted that “Graduates of the 2010 to 2019 of these three schools are requested to complete an information form on the LGS website (www.lgs.gov.gh) and upload a scanned copy of their certificates in (PDF format) to facilitate the process.”

The new recruits, the statement explained, would support efforts to improve sanitation in the various communities.

“This recruitment is to augment the existing capacity of the environmental officers to improve the implementation of environmental health and sanitation policies, plans and programmes in the country,” it added.

The statement advised applicants to submit their documents by May 22, this year.
