Methodist Church commissions 83 new Ministers

The Methodist Church, Ghana on Sunday commissioned 83 new Ministers to serve their probation, in three separate ceremonies across Accra.

The Ministers made up of eight females and 75 males were commissioned at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, Asafoatse Nettey- Accra, Thomas Clegg Memorial Methodist Chapel, Kaneshie and Ebenezer Methodist Cathedral, Madina after going through a three year ministerial formation at the Trinity Theological Seminary.

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, who led the commendation and commissioning of the Ministers at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, Asafoatse Nettey- Accra charged the new Ministers to be stewards of God’s holy ministries and teachers of the truth to bring sanctity and dignity to His kingdom.

Speaking on the theme: ‘My calling to fulfill,’ Most Rev. Boafo asked them to see themselves as God who had called them and not themselves.

He said God had a purpose for their calling to give healing, life, liberty to people who were in distress.

“Looking at the timing we find ourselves now, COVID-19 is over but the aftermath of COVID-19 is still with us. People have lost their jobs, hopes, monies, there is haircut among others, but it is same people that God is sending these people to.

And so in Isaiah 61 and Luke 4:18, God brings life into situations and as Ghanaians, if we will depend on God and look up to him as the God we walk to our fathers, He will also walk with us to bring the needed healing, liberation, salvation and peace of mind that we all need,” he added.

Most Rev. Boafo entreated the new Ministers to seek the face of God in all their endeavors and remain obedient to His word as well as the church’s constitution.

“Go into humility as Methodist Church Ministers, It is only in humility that we can serve God’s people and share in the love of God to raise meaning into life. Be submissive to your leaders and don’t be ashamed to propagate the gospel,” he added.

He admonished the congregation and spouses of the new Ministers to constantly pray for them as they exercise their duties to fulfill the will of God.

The Presiding Bishop presented Holy Bibles and the church’s constitution to the newly commissioned Ministers and urged them not to adulterate the doctrines of the church and the Holy Bible.

The Ministers declared their acceptance of their new role and pledged their readiness to exercise their duties in humility and order from the constitution and the Holy Bible.
