An Inspector of the Counselling Unit of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Theophilus Ayi Anang, has been awarded by the Melcom Group of Companies to celebrate his outstanding policing and services to the country.
He received a refrigerator fully stuffed with assorted drinks, milo, biscuits, and milk, among other items.
Presenting the award to him in Accra yesterday, the Director of Communications of Melcom Group of Companies, Godwin Avenorgbo explained that the awards was to honour him for providing safety and security to the public.
He noted that if men and women in uniforms who were devoted in providing service in favour of public safety were awarded, they would be motivated in discharging their duties effectively and efficiently.
Mr Avenorgbo said his outfit took keen interest in supporting the Accra Regional Police Command for the initiative to recognise the Accra City Police Officer who won the Vote of Confidence in Policing, hence the awards.
He assured that the Ghana Police Service was in the good books of Melcom Care Foundation and promised his outfit’s commitment to associate with their projects for the good of Ghana and Ghanaians.
Mr Avenorgbo used the opportunity to announce the expansion of Melcom services which include the opening of more branches.
“In this connection I wish to announce that before the end of 2021, the Melcom Group Subsidiary Skyline Investments Limited will open the first five Pizza Hut Restaurants in Ghana,” he added.
Inspector Annang receiving the items thanked Melcom for the awards and pledged to work in strengthening the peace and security of the country.
Touching on why Inspector Anang was awarded, the Public Relations Officer of the Volta Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge described him as a Police officer with a “Golden Heart.”
She said due to his diligence he excelled in wherever he was posted to which helped him in shaping his career development part.
“It was, therefore not surprising when he was selected by the Director-General, Police Professional Standard Bureau, to be part of the newly established Police Welfare Steering Committee in 2019,” DSP Tenge added.
She indicated that Inspector Anang related well with his colleagues and made various donations to impact positively in the lives of other police personnel.
On his part, the Director General of Police Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Kwesi Ofori charged the public to report crimes to enhance the security operation in the country.
“Security is a shared responsibility, we need to develop and push it hard to bring peace and security to the citizenry,” he added.
The occasion was also used to present to Melcom copies of Police Diary, dubbed; “Policing the National Capital 2021” for the company to keep in their branches to champion the course of policing in the country.
