A new health facility and an office block were inaugurated at Dawhenya for the Ningo-Pampram District last Friday as part of efforts to support the Assembly and improve healthcare delivery in the area.
The clinic comprises of a theatre, sterilisation room, changing area, an Outpatient Department (OPD), scan office, family planning department, pharmacy, delivery room, nursery and physician rooms and a laboratory.
The facilities were donated by Melcom Care, the philanthropic wing of Melcom Group of Companies (MGC).
Director of Communications of MGC Mr Godwin Avenorgbo in his remarks during a short ceremony to hand over the edifices to the Assembly indicated that as a group of companies, Melcom engages in the provision of services to satisfy the needs of the public.
He said it was in line with the desire to promote development in the nation that his outfit undertook the construction of the projects.
“We have ensured that these properties are legally connected with running water by the Ghana Water Company, electricity by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and are both provided with septic tanks for proper hygienic storage and disposal of waste,” he added.
He revealed that the MGC was ever ready to engage communities, chiefs and local government administrative machinery of all areas in Ghana, ready to collaborate with the business entity to expand its services to various parts of the country.
District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) of Ningo-Prampram, Mr Al-Latiff Tetteh Amanor expressed profound gratitude to the MGC for the gesture and urged the District Health Directorate to cultivate a good maintenance culture to ensure cleanliness and longevity of the equipment that the facility would be resourced.
“This is a perfect example of contributing ones quota towards the development of our beloved country. We are grateful to Melcom for the gesture, and we promise to do our best to properly maintain these edifices.”
“I believe that together we can support the government to develop our dear nation,” the DCE added.
The paramount chief of Ningo-Pampram, Nene Tetteh Waka III in his submission stated that he was amazed by the kindness of MGC, saying their benevolence would remain in the hearts of residents and Ghanaians at large, forever.
He also appealed to the company to consider indigenes of the area for employment when the need arises.
