Marketer granted bail over failure to account for company’s GH¢150,295.00

A marketer, who was unable to account for GH¢150,295.00, belonging to Africa Zone Company Limited, has been granted bail by the Circuit Court in Accra.

Mr Maxwell Obidieh, 42, is said to have used the money to take care of his sick mother and also bought land out of the money.

The marketer, who was charged with stealing, pleaded not guilty.

 The court presided over by Mrs Adelaide Abui Keddey, admitted the accused to GH¢150,000.00 bail with two sureties.

 The case has been adjourned to September 7, 2022 for Case Management Conference (CMC).

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Maxwell Ayimbtold the court that the complainant was a manager at Africa Zone Company Limited and resided at Osu.

The court heard that accused was resident of Dome, Accra, and marketer of the company, whichsupply rice, oil and other food products.

Chief InspAyimsaid in February and March 2022, the complainant gave assorted products to the accused and he supplied same to customers at Okaishie, Agbogbloshie and CMB respectively.

The court heard that on April 12, 2022, the company invited accused to render an account of goods supplied but could not account for the said amount.

Chief InspAyim said a complaint was lodged at Osu police Station, which led to the arrest of accused.

He said during investigation, accused told the police that, he used part of the money to take care of his sick mother and also bought land. –GNA
