Man swindles Togolese of Ghc 1,940

A 29-year old man, who swindled a Togolese of Ghc 1,940 and mobile phone, has been jailed 18 months by the Ashaiman Circuit Court.

AduGyamfi, convict, who attempted to sell fake diamond to his victim, was charged with stealing and he admitted having committed the offence.

His accomplice, Daniel Gadrey, denied any wrongdoing and the court presided over by Mr. Richard DelaliAnku, remanded him in police custody.

Police Chief Inspector Samuel Aprewehsaid that the victim, John Bosco, a citizen of Kpalime in Togo, who lived in Haatso, Accra, travelled to his home country.

The court heard thatBoscoapproached Gadrey at the Ashaiman Lorry Station to direct him to any Forex Bureau.

Chief InspApreweh said Gadrey although told the victim he could not assist him, continued to engage him (victim) in a conversation until Gyamfi emerged and offered to lead them to a Forex Bureau.

Prosecution said when Gyamfi, Gadrey, and the victim were walking towards the Ashaiman Fitter Lane, Gyamfi brought out fake diamond.

Gyamfiused the fake diamond to dupe the victim of his mobile phone and Ghc1940.00. – GNA
