Man shot dead at Miotso

A 77-year-old man, Daniel Akwetey Awulley, was shot dead on Wednesday dawn at his residence in Miotso in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region. 

When police went to the scene of the incident, they found the main door to his two-bedroom house broken into and the deceased with gunshot wounds in his chest and thigh.

The Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Stella Dede Dzakpasu told the Ghanaian Times on Wednesday that the police had begun investigations into the incident.

She said the body had also been deposited at the Tema General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Chief Insp Dzakpasu said that the Prampram District police patrol team received information from two men that their father had been shot and killed at his residence in Miotso. 

She said when the police accompanied the men to the house they (police) found that the main door to the two-bedroom house had been broken into with a block.

Chief Insp Dzakpasu said personnel of the Homicide Unit, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and Regional CID, Tema, had visited the scene. 

She appealed to members of the public who may have any information leading to the death of Awuley to contact the nearest police station for action.
