The Police with support from Fiankoma community have arrested an adult and a child for allegedly robbing and killing a motorbike rider at Benebene near Fiankoma in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Eric Anning and the minor, after robbing their victim, Osei Mensah Daniel, a third-year student of Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School, of his boxer motor bike, murdered and buried him in a cocoa farm near Benebene.
A statement signed by Chief Superintendent of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director, Public Affairs, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said following their arrest, the suspect together with his minor accomplice, led the Police to the scene where the body of the deceased was found.
It said the body was removed and deposited at the St Peter’s Catholic Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The statement said Eric Anning, who had sustained a deep cut on his right hand during the robbery was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
It said meanwhile, the suspect and his minor accomplice would be put before court today, August 9, 2022.
The statement said the Ashanti Regional Command was in touch with the family of the deceased and the Inspector-General of Police had also spoken to the parents of the deceased to commiserate with them on behalf of the Police Administration.
It commended the people of Fiankoma for their support and urged other communities to continue supporting the Police to ensure the safety of everyone. -GNA
