A 59-year-old unemployed man has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling 12-year-old girl.
James Armah, aka Colour, is believed to have had sex with the girl, indecently assaulted her with his tongue and offered her GH₵10.
Charged with defilement and indecent assault, Armah has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann has admitted Armah to GH₵100,000bail with three sureties, two to be justified with landed property.
The court also ordered prosecution led by Chief Inspector Simon Tekpor to file disclosures, and adjourned the case to April 3, for Case Management Conference.
The prosecution said that the complainant, father of the girl, resided at Timber Market, Accra,together with the victim.
Chief InspTekpor said the complainant and the accused were neighbours and “they know each other.”
The prosecution alleged that Armah invited the victim into his room and defiled her and offered the victim GH₵10.
Chief InspTekporsaid in December, 2022, when the victim was on her way to sell sachet water, Armah allegedly asked her to follow himto his room for GH₵10.
The prosecution said Armah allegedly locked the door, undressed the victim and used his tongue to lick the victim’s vagina and had sex with her.
Chief InspTekpor said after the act, accused allegedly asked the victim to come for GH₵10 the following day.
The court heard that some neighbours,who saw the victim enter the accused’s room,informed the complainant about the issue.
Chief InspTekpor said the complainant made a report to the police through the assistance of Street Children Empowerment Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, at James Town, and accused was arrested. – GNA
