Another person has been sentenced to a fine of GH¢ 3,000, by the Akomadan District Court in Offinso North District, for forcing three juveniles to chew raw fowl meat.

Duodu Antwi, also known as, Kwaku Antwi, was convicted on his own guilty plea of abetment of crime and conspiracy to commit crime, when he appeared before the court on February 11, 2019.

This brings to four the number of people sentenced to a fine for forcing some children to chew raw meat.

The court, presided by Mrs Florence Baah ordered Antwi to pay GH¢ 1,000.00 to each of the three victims, or in default would go to jail for eight months in hard labour.

According to prosecution, Antwi willfully turned himself into the police after a bench warrant was issued by the court for his immediate arrest, when four accomplices appeared before the court on February 4, 2019.

Out of the four accomplices, three were sentenced to a fine of GH¢3,000.00, and they were each ordered to pay GH¢1,000.00 to each of the victims after they also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit assault.

The other accused, Francis Osei, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit assault and assault charges, and he was granted GH¢10,000.00 bail and asked to re-appear before court on February 25, 2019.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Edmund Nyamekye, told the court that, the three victims, all students, were arrested by the accused for allegedly stealing a fowl on January 21, 2019.

The accused forced the juveniles to chew raw fowl meat as punishment, which was captured on video that went viral on social media, as they were seen chewing the raw meat and being provided with water to enable them swallow the meat.
