Mahama: Remain united to win back NDC’s lost seats

Former President John Dramani Mahama, has appealed to members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain vigilant, focused and united to win back parliamentary seats lost in the 2020 general election.

“We must be vigilant, focused and united at the polling stations and collation centres in the next elections to ensure victory in the 2024 elections,” he stressed.

The former president cautioned that without a united, vigilant and focused front at the polling stations and collation centres the next elections and future ones would be difficult for the party to win.

Former President Mahama made the call when he ended his ‘thank you tour’ of the Western North Region with a commendation to residents of the region for their unflinching support and assistance of the NDC to make in-roads in the 2020 elections and assured that the party would win any election that was credible, transparent, free and fair.

Addressing a stakeholder meeting at Juaboso, former President Mahama asked the rank and file of the party at the Akontombra Constituency to remain united to win back the parliamentary seat in the next election and ensure the figures from the various polling stations and collation centres were a true reflection of the results that would be declared.

“Let us ensure the figures from the various polling stations and collation centres are a true reflection of the results that will be declared and I have decided to be a polling agent in future elections so that election results are declared in a credible, transparent, free and fair manner,” he added.

Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the 2020 NDC Running Mate, urged members, supporters, faithful, sympathisers, well-wishers at the grassroots not to be intimidated but ensure that the party won all parliamentary seats in the region and lauded the leadership of the party for recognising the role of women in society and accepting her as the then running mate of former President Mahama.

Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the NDC, called on the people to bring the NDC back to power to fight corruption to the letter. -GNA
