List of candidates for MUSIGA National elections released

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has released the list of contenders for its upcoming elections slated for June 26.

Earlier, the National Executive Committee appointed a five-member committee, National Elections Committee to supervise the pending national elections of the Union.

MUSIGA in a press statement, announced the contenders after theNational Elections Committee chaired by highlife musician Smart Nkansah completed its vetting processes.

In the final list, two candidates are vying for the position of President, 1st and 2nd Vice President as well as the General Secretary slots.

On who becomes the National President of the union, two legendary musicians, Bessa Simons, who had served as the National Vice President for the past eight years, will ‘clash’ with Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, who is the current President of the Greater Accra Region.

Celebrated Gospel artiste Rev. Dr Harry Thomas Yawson and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lynx Entertainment and astute Sound Engineer, Richard Karikari Mensah, will contend for the 1stVice President slot.

For the 2nd Vice President slot, gospel artistes, Deborah Freeman and Ruth Benny Wood, known in showbiz circles as Abena Ruthy will prove their mettle.

Gifty Ghansah will eye the National Welfare Officer, with Rev. Edward Edusa-Eyison going for the National Treasurer position.

The National Organiser position will go to Chizzy Nii Adu Wailer, where as Sylvia Bosompem Amponsah and Samuel Kofi Agyemang would compete in the General Secretary race.
