Libya coach resigns,technical staff sacked

Coach Jalal Damja on Thursday resigned from coaching Libya, following his side’s two legs defeat against Tunisia 1-0 and 2-1 in African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2020 qualifiers.

Libyan Football Association (LFA) parted ways with the remaining technical staff as The Mediterranean Knights failed to qualify to next year’s Cameroon finals.

Damja was appointed as Libya’s coach last July. He was assisted by Akram Hammali, Salem Jalali, goalkeepers’ coach Mohamed Bousifi and fitness coach Muftah Toweir.

LFA will appoint a new technical staff shortly to guide the national team in the impending 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Libya was drawn in Group J of the Cameroon 2021 qualifiers with Tunisia, Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea. Libya kicks off their campaign away to Tunisia on November 16 followed by home game against Tanzania on November 19. – cafonline
