Mrs Jane Sam, Headteacher of Melseaux Academy, a private basic school in Takoradi in the Western Region, has called on individuals and organisations to support the government improve the country’s education sector to produce the requisite human resource for national development.
She noted that the development of every country, to a large extent, depended on its human resource, and the school was therefore committed to intensifying supervision and monitoring to produce disciplined and dedicated scholars needed for nation building.
Mrs Sam, an educationist, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, at Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi, gave the assurance that Melseaux Academy would champion the crusade to improve the fallen standards of education in the country.
She stressed, “There is the need for stakeholders in the education sector to focus on effective monitoring and supervision to enhance teaching and learning”.
Mrs Sam said the school had combined both the Ghanaian and British curricula to enable pupils of the school receive excellent quality education.
She also said the school tapped into the talents of students right from the beginning through regular role plays in classroom situations, adding that “Melseaux Academy would ensure discipline, hard work, civility and respect for the elderly in training pupils”.
Mrs Sam noted that discipline and hard work among children were fast eroding in the Ghanaian society, and appealed to parents to support school authorities introduce these values into formal education.
She commended the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of Melseaux Academy for contributing to the development of the school and urged other associations to do same.
Mrs Sam said the authorities of Melseaux promoted African cultural values by placing premium on the wearing of traditional dresses in the school.
She said the school was poised to sustain the sterling academic performance and extra curricula activities, and appealed to individuals, philanthropists and organisations to assist the school acquire vehicle and logistics to facilitate teaching and learning. – GNA
