The Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Benjamin Ayiku Narteh, has paid the medical bills of some detained mothers at LEKMA Hospital.
The gesture is to help to alleviate the financial burden on the women who had given birth but were unable to settle their medical bills.
The payment was done before the New Year to allow the women to celebrate the festive season with their families at home.
Mr Nartey was accompanied by the Municipal Health Director, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Executives, and the Assembly Member for the Aborlebu Electoral Area, Emmanuel Okai Doku to visit the hospital to settle the bills of the detained women.
One of the detained mothers who spoke on behalf her colleagues expressed appreciation for the MP and said the gesture had relieved them of the stress and anxiety associated with the
burden of medical bills during what should be a joyous and momentous occasion in their lives.
“Benjamin Ayiku Narteh’s commitment to alleviating the plight of vulnerable members within his constituency has not gone unnoticed, and this recent act of kindness further solidifies his dedication to serving and uplifting his constituents,” she stated.
The detained mother said the collaborative effort with the Municipal Health Director, NDC Constituency Executives, and other community leaders underscored the collective resolve to address the healthcare needs and challenges faced by the residents of the Ledzokuku Constituency.
“The selfless initiative by the MP not only demonstrates his leadership and compassion but also serves as a beacon of hope for those in need within the community.
