Kudufia wins 2022 Mountain Bike race

One of Ghana’s fast rising cyclists, Prince Kudufia, put an impressive performance to emerge winner of this year’s Mountain Bike Race held on Saturday at Ashiyie near Adenta.

He came out tops in the 30km race which saw over 100 professional and amateur cyclists compete for the top prize.

He also beat stiff competition from Victor Kudjo who settled for the second position while Ernest Asamani came third.

Kudufia walked away with a trophy, medal and certificate from the organizers, Emmagee Fitness Center while the second and third position winners also received trophies and medals.

In the 20km event, Philip Ayesu emerged victorious while Sasu Emmanuel and Thomas Bagbire settled for the second and third positions in that order.

For the female category, Erica Sedzro won the event to receive a new mountain bike and trophy for her prize.

Speaking after the event, the third edition, the founder of Emmagee Fitness Center, Emmanuel Antwi said he was impressed with the turnout, adding that this year’s event had seen massive improvement from previous years.

He said, he was particularly impressed with the interest shown by the young people.

“The future for the sport is very bright considering how a lot of children are taking interest and participating. They would become future professionals for the country when the current ones are no more in active sport,” he stated.

Next year, he said would be better as they looked forward to making the event a national one and possibly get foreign cyclists to participate.

“We also hope to give exposure to our cyclists and work towards ensuring that next year’s winner would compete in South Africa in the international mountain bike race,” he disclosed.

He congratulated the winners and called on sponsors to come on board to support and make the event bigger.
