Kotoko drop points again

Late drama ensued at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale as visitors Asante Kotoko’s late goal against Tamale City, touted as the winner was

 cancelled by a last-ditch effort from the home side, splitting the points to end the betPawa Premier League match day 12 fixture 1-1.

Kotoko, who had struggled throughout the encounter to break down Tamale City found a break­through in the 84th minute when City defender IssahNyaabila turne in Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala’s low cross intended for Samuel Boateng in an attempt to block it.

But City, who lie second from bottom and are battling relegation, did not despair but mounted a comeback, earning the leveller two minutes later through substitute Babamu Ibrahim.

The equaliser energized the home side to go in search of a winner to stun Kotoko but the visitors pushed back to hold on for a draw.

The stalemate which was the visitors third in a row placed them momentarily in second position on 20 points, a point better than Hearts who have 19 points and a game less than the leaders.
