Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly confirms President’s nominee

The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly has confirmed the President’s nominee, Nii Adjei Tawiah as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

It also endorsed Francis Ebo Mensah as the Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly.

Voting to elect the two, which went on smoothly yesterday without a hitch was conducted by the Electoral Commission, and it saw all 13-member assembly members including the MCE and PM sworn into office to inaugurate the newly created assembly in the Greater Accra metropolis.

Addressing constituents, members of the assembly and stakeholders who came to witness the ceremony, Mr Tawiah expressed gratitude to members of the assembly for the overwhelming endorsement.

He said although he was yet to outline his vision to ensure that the assembly witnesses development and improvement in the living condition of residents, he would need the support and assistance of all in achieving that agenda.

“As a newly created municipal assembly, there is lot of work to be done in the areas of, better road infrastructure, good education facilities, improvement in water and sanitation facilities and good healthcare.

“We must all come together to ensure that the vision of government is successfully implemented and achieved to enhance socio economic development, I will like to also thank the President for the confidence reposed in me to represent his government at the assembly and I promise to deliver, pledge to work with the assembly members and other stakeholders to uplift the fortunes of the municipality,” Nii Adjei Tawiah stressed.

Ishmael Ashitey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, admonished the assembly to create investment opportunities to attract investors to the municipality saying, “The assembly should not focus only on infrastructure developments but on how to improve living conditions of the constituents, especially in the areas of jobs and opportunities”.
