The KOICA Alumni Association of Ghana (KAAG) on Thursday donated COVID-19 prevention items to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund at the Presidency to support efforts in fighting the spread of the disease in the country.
Valued at US$12,000, the items included 300 personal protective equipment (PPE), 35 pieces of handgun thermometers, 20 Veronica buckets, 90 litres of liquid soap, 90 hand sanitisers and 100 rolls of paper tissues.
The donation, which formed part of KAAG’s annual budget earmarked for extending social services for 2020, was sponsored by the Korean government through their country agency, KOICA Ghana.
Presenting the items with the support of the KOICA Ghana Country Director, Yukyum Kim, President of KAAG, Dominic Adjei Annang, said the donation would facilitate protection for over 1,000 KAAG members working as frontline workers across the country.
He said KAAG, which was set up in 2008 to strengthen the peace and friendship between Korea Republic and Ghana through partnership, development and knowledge sharing, would continue to support government to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Receiving the items, Sophia Akuffo, Chairman for the COVID-19 Trust Fund, said the donation was timely since the Fund was about to deploy COVID-19 prevention items to the reopened schools, health facilities and various communities.
